GENDER DIFFERENCES: PARANORMAL BELIEFS AND MALADAPTIVE EMOTIONAL SCHEMAS

This study aimed to assess and compare the level of paranormal beliefs maladaptive emotional schemas between both genders, males females suffering from Functional Neurological Symptom disorder (FNSD). One hundred thirty-four patients (67 & 67 females) 14 years 24 having functional neurological symptoms were approached through a purposive sampling strategy psychiatric wards government private hospitals in Lahore. The questionnaires RPBS (Tobacky, 2004) LESS-II (Leahy, 2002) applied schemas, respectively. results Independent sample t-test show that female experience significantly different witchcraft beliefs; t (132) = 18.15, p=.000, two-tailed, superstitions 33.704, two-tailed. effect Cohen (d =1.705) is higher more than males. In addition, findings also statistically significant gender difference on invalidation; 2.25, p=.026, simplistic view emotions; low expression; 5.716, two-tailed blame; -2.372, p=.019, size =0.629) medium, however, concluded FNSD need be focused modifying their superstitious invalidation, emotions, blaming control them Therefore, should adjusted for emotion expression, which could done focus therapy.
